Maran should step down: NFTE-BSNL's CK Mathivanan

The National Federation of Telecom Employees today staged a protest against Dayanidhi Maran. They demanded that Maran should step down for misusing 323 BSNL lines.

The National Federation of Telecom Employees (NFTE) today staged a protest against Dayanidhi Maran. They demanded that Maran should step down for misusing 323 BSNL lines. They also said that the BSNL general manager was forced to give him a letter that he used in his defense. The letter says that there was only one phone line at Maran's premises, reports CNBC-TV18. Speaking to CNBC-TV18, CK Mathivanan, deputy general secretary of NFTE- BSNL  , said, Mr. Dayanidhi Maran was the candidate in central Chennai but our General Manager is V Meenalochiny. In fact, she was forced to sign the letter on dotted lines. She signed that letter from the pressure of so many people including DMK functionaries. So, she has signed that only one line is working in the residence of Dayanidhi Maran and even that line is not having so much calls. However, we have now proved that there are so many lines working in the name of CGM at the same address, not in the name of Maran. So, the letter itself is false.

Case against ex-minister Dayanidhi Maran for 'stealing' 300 phone lines
Former union minister Dayanidhi Maran has been accused by the CBI of using 300 government-owned phone lines for Sun TV, the media network owned by his brother, Kalanidhi, in Tamil Nadu.
BSNL man loses pension for exposing Dayanidhi Maran's illegal telephone exchange( The Times of India);

CHENNAI: The whistleblower, who exposed the secret telephone exchange set up by former Union telecom minister Dayanidhi Maran at his Boat Club residence in Chennai, was a BSNL subdivisional engineer, whose pension has now been stopped on disciplinary grounds.

CK Mathivanan carried out a campaign within BSNL against Maran for three years for alleged misuse of infrastructure to facilitate free transmission of data and visuals for a television channel owned by Dayanidhi's elder brother Kalanithi Maran.

After retiring in June 2013, Mathivanan found that he was among the staffers who were penalized for an agitation against superiors, including those under whose names Maran was allotted 323 ISDN lines. Mathivanan is yet to receive his pension, but the fact that his actions helped expose a Rs 440-crore revenue loss to the PSU is a matter of his satisfaction....
